How often you should check your balance, how UPI apps fuel anxiety, and a 30-minute weekly money review that replaces all-day doomscrolling.

Opening the bank app after every chai is not “being responsible.” It is a slot machine. Replace it with one weekly review.

The weekly dashboard (30 minutes)

  1. 1.Buffer left until payday.
  2. 2.SIPs and auto-debits running.
  3. 3.Any debt due in 7 days.
  4. 4.One action (cut a sub, raise SIP ₹500, pay extra on a card).

Turn off balance notifications. Automate the boring transfers on salary day. Check when you review — not when you feel fear.

Common questions

How often should I check my bank balance?
A weekly review is enough for most people. Automate bills and SIPs so you are not opening the app out of fear all day.
